Changes from Aspell/Pspell to GNU Aspell 0.50 important to packagers: GNU Aspell 0.50 is the first version of Aspell as an official GNU Package. It is a combination of the original Aspell and Pspell which should be as least as stable as the original Aspell/Pspell combination. The source code has been completely reorganized in the process of the merge which should make it significantly easier for others to maintain. Being a single package, it should also be easier to install and package. From a packagers viewpoint the two most significant changes are 1) There is no longer any Pspell. However, applications that expect Pspell should still work with a few exceptions. Please see the manual for more info. 2) The way dictionaries are handled has been completely redone. In particular: * There are no ".pwli" to worry about. Aspell now finds the dictionaries based on the way they are named. * Dictionaries for Aspell are now packaged in a nice uniform format. * Language names have changed to the two letter iso code. When you upgrade the Aspell package you should also upgrade all the dictionaries at the same time. Since they are now in a uniform format one person should be able to create packages for all the dictionaries. Other changes you should be aware of include: * My new email address is kevina@gnu.org. * The URL for Aspell is now http://aspell.net * The description of Aspell has changed. When updating the package please also update the description since the old one I gave is no longer accurate. * The aspell-user list at sourceforge is no longer to be used. Please use the new aspell-user lists at gnu.org. If you were subscribed to aspell-user at sourceforge you will need to resubscribe yourself to the one at gnu.org. * libltdl is no longer used for the moment
